According to the American Psychological Association, “Rates have increased more sharply since 2006. Suicide ranks as the fourth leading cause of death for people ages 35 to 54, and the second for 10- to 34-year-olds. It remains the 10th leading cause of death overall.”

This trend is something important to bring attention to because it can bring awareness to specific age groups that need more attention to the situation.

Another thing to bring to the audience’s attention could be that men are more likely to commit suicide.

According to the article “Why women are less likely than men to commit suicide,” it is discussed that women are more likely to experience major depression but men are more likely to commit suicide.

This is something that needs to be brought to the viewers’ attention, it is not that known. Men never talk about their feelings, they feel that they are not supposed to feel emotions. Men should be aware that they can talk about things and should feel more comfortable about expressing the idea that they need help.

When covering the topic of suicide, looking at websites such as the National Suicide Prevention Line and SAVE: Suicide Prevention, Information, and awareness can help provide useful information.

By providing current information that will inform the public of the reasoning or bringing awareness to the situation can help people understand the higher risk some age groups or genders are.
